When we think of the epitome of beauty, we think high cheekbones, firm jawline, full cheek volume. These facial features are collectively known as the Midface Triangle of Youth, with lifted cheekbones as the base of the triangle and the chin as the point.

Did you know that many visible signs of aging can be traced back to volume loss?  As facial Volume thin out, skin tissue bulk around the nose and mouth as cheeks appear flat and hollow. Dermal fillers can replace lost volume to help smooth wrinkles, plump the skin, and restore a more youthful appearance.

What is Dermal Filler?

​

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines and soften creases, or enhance facial contours.  Most fillers are Hyaluronic acid (HA) based, a naturally occurring substance found in the skin. It helps keep our skin plump and hydrated. Injectable fillers are temporary, lasting 6 -12 months or longer before natural metabolism occurs in the body.  Most HA fillers are also infused with lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during and after treatment.

What is the procedure like at  La Déesse Clinic ?

1 - Face Assessment

​

A personalized consultation will be done to assess your concerns, goals, as well as skin health, facial features and symmetry.  Following a thorough discussion, we will make recommendations on product and determine during this step the amount of filler needed to achieve your aesthetic goals.  Some documentary photos will also be taken for comparison and clinical documentation purposes only.

2 - Cleaning and Application of Numbing Cream

​

Following a thorough cleansing of the skin area, a topical numbing cream will be applied to manage any discomfort during treatment.

​

3 - Injection of Fillers

​

Prior to treatment, your injector will map the skin for visual guidance and communication of the treatment goal. This whole process will take about 15-30 minutes.  A thorough post-treatment care will be discussed to ensure your results are cared for at home.  A two week follow up appointment is encouraged to evaluate treatment results and address any concerns you may have.

Is the procedure painful?

​

Filler injections are very tolerable for most patients and will cause minimal discomfort as most HA fillers we use have local freezing properties combined.  The added topical numbing cream applied before injecting the filler also helps to manage any discomfort.

What is the downtime for recovery?

​

There is almost no downtime with dermal filler treatments.  With most treatments, patients can go back to their daily activities with caution. During the post-care period, a proper sleeping position will be advised to protect filler placement.  Avoid massaging, or picking at treated areas to avoid complications or infections.

Are Filler procedures reversible?

​

Pure HA-based dermal filler is largely a reversible procedure. We have the option to reverse the procedure by breaking down the HA molecules with an injectable enzyme if necessary. 

​

How long do Cheek Fillers last?

​

The effects fillers are long lasting but not permanent.  Results will last between 9 to 12 months or more depending on placement, technique and individual metabolism.  To maintain a youthful appearance, your injector will monitor, reassess and advise you to get a touch-up as needed when necessary.
